Nan and Bernie Dykhouse are working in Cambodia with pastors and churches they have worked with for many years. The underlying organization of the churches they work with seems to be collapsing under the weight of spirits of pride, greed, confusion and deception. Many unfortunate events have resulted and those national pastors who remain desire to get the churches back on the right path, the path of seeing souls saved for the Kingdom.

Here are their requests:

Pray for the guidance of the board, [a group of 5 men elected by their peers] as they map out a new church; for Godly wisdom, and direction for them.

Pray for the men[the board] leading the 30… many of the 30 are young grads, still needing to be discipled as all young pastors do.

Pray for the church to grow, and mature quickly in God’s word.

Pray for us (Nan and Bernie), to know the things God want us to do and when; as the first request from Ptr. Vandy was that we would come alongside them as missionaries and continue to work with them as we have.

Pray for “ex-organization” and all connected to them, that God be in control of their out-reach in all ways, and that nothing bad was intended. You can help us here, and pray for us on this point too, as its very hard to understand why they didn’t prevent a church split, by doing what they said they would do.

Hello from Gambia

Things going well here. The folks from Georgia are really catching on to this storying and they are in the process of adopting the Karon. They are telling the stories and we are spending the day in Darsalama. John and Mary are great as you know. there have been about 16 people who have professed faith in Jesus. I saw Ami and he gave testimony that we led him to faith in Christ. The man you and jonathan spent so much time with is away from the village. They are beginning to start teaching them to tell the stories.

If you can check with Mike Sowers about the UPG Summit. I don’t know if he is in office on Fri or not. At last count we had 35 preregistered.

Hard rain last night. Don’t know if we will be able to get to Darsalama or not. Some spots in road a very muddy. Martin is well. It is so good to see him.

We are all well.

Love you all.

Alan

Rebecca Kiel will be part of a mission team to New York City August 8-15. She and the team will be working with Street Life Ministries. Below is some of her prayer requests. Please pass them along to the Prayer Team.

Prayer requests (as well as some practical ways that the body can bless Street Life Ministries):

I want to be obedient to the Lord in all things, prior to and during this trip.  We cannot do supernatural works in our human strength or endeavors.  Unless we abide in Him, we can do nothing… (Prayer that I will abide in Him.)  That I will focus on my relationship with God – that I will seek Him first and most.  That we will go spiritually ready – and remain so.

Request for prayer that God would enable the team, and all workers in the harvest, to be pure and useable for the Holy Spirit, and thanks and Praise to God for what He is already doing and how He is answering the prayers.  Thanks and praise to Him for His “Jer. 29:11″ for each person, and His “Rom. 8:28″ for each situation!

New York City also has recently become more hostile to Christianity..?  God to soften hearts before we go, and for HIM to be the One encountering each soul.  That we don’t offend in word or action, but are just God’s presence to everyone in all we do!

NYC is a melting pot with lots of different languages and religious backgrounds – we need God to “interpret” and make a Way where there is no way..

Also, some unexpected expenses came up for me following committing (prayerfully) to the mission trip – for God’s will in all of this as I prepare for the mission trip and surrounding expenses.

Myself and the team are forming ideas and plans for t-shirts to wear in NYC (and here!) that would share Jesus with those that we come in contact with maybe only briefly.. God’s will, clear guidance and plan for that!

Another interesting fact — there has been a bedbug epidemic in NYC!  Protection from this and any other hazards, God-willing.

CARE PACKS
Additionally, on another practical note — each team member is to bring (at least) 5-10 care packs to help meet the needs of the people Street Life Ministries serves on the streets – and our home churches are encouraged to participate! :)
Miscellaneous items “unpacked” are welcomed also, as well as other creative donations.
The care packs are used to bless the poor and homeless by sharing the love of Jesus in a practical and tangible way. Depending on church-based care package donations, if we don’t have available space in the van we are renting, we may also be able to box and ship, or send with a contact at Street Life Ministries that occasionally comes to Brevard.  If you have any of these items available and/or would like to help out in another way, please contact Rebecca Kiel (553-1900, evenkiel@hotmail.com).

Basic Care Pack Items: toothpaste, toothbrush, soap, shampoo, disposable razors, shaving cream, wash cloths, deodorant

Men: white tube socks (sz 9-12), undergarments (sz 32-40), pants (sz 32-40; jeans preferably), shirts, shoes

Women: undergarments, sanitary napkins (indiv. wrapped), pants (jeans preferably), shirts, shoes, dresses

Summer Months:  SHORTS, t-shirts, sandals/flip-flops, light jackets or windbreakers

Gift Items: Candy or gum, snacks (indiv. wrapped), cologne or perfumes, lotion, tissue packs, cotton swabs, lip balm, powder

Winter Months (though hot now, still will be needed in a few more months): sweatshirts, thermal undergarments, warm boots, winter socks, hats, gloves or mittens, warm winter coats or jackets, scarves, disposable hand warmers

*Street Life can also use a lot of empty film container with caps, if anyone still has some?

Prayer as God leads during this preparation time and mission trip would be the best gift.. for myself and the team and missions partners, ..along with all the people in NYC that we hope to some day see in the Kingdom! Thanks so much! :)   I appreciate your time, and apologize for the exhaustive email!  Thanks for all you do – God Bless You!

Dear Prayer Warriors,

Ken Knight, a dear friend and trustee to TCWM, just informed us of some most disturbing news.

Ken’s grandson, Corporal Jeff Knight, was in a bombing accident while on duty in Afghanistan.  He lost both legs and a hand.  He had just recently been married before leaving for this tour.

Please pray that God will comfort this family and give them a peace that passes all understanding!

As the day we celebrate our country’s independence approaches, may we remember all the soldiers who are serving our nation.

In His Service,

Nancy Biswell
TCWM Prayer Coordinator

URGENT PRAYER NEEDED:
We just received a text message from Eric who is serving with the team in Uganda. The Lord has been blessing with several hundred coming to Christ.

However, there has been a terrible accident involving Brother Agnatius (the coordinator for the Tom Cox World Ministries in Uganda.)  According to Eric, while Agnatius was driving, a 12 year old boy ran out in front of his car and was killed.

The child was the only son of a Muslim family and as can be expected, they are distraught.

A settlement hearing has already been scheduled for tomorrow. (Tonight as we sleep) It has already been determined that Agnatius was not at fault. However, in this country Agnatius will be expected to pay a loss of life settlement.  If the settlement is not paid he will be jailed until it is paid in full.

Agnatius is the father of 8 children himself.  He is devastated.

Please pray for this family.  Only those who have lost a child can imagine the devastation they are experiencing.  Pray too that God (Jehovah God) will be made known and that God might show Agnatius comfort and then favor in this loss of life settlement.

Please understand that no one from our team was involved and everyone is healthy and fine.  Pray for the team as they continue to minister.  They will begin their journey home on Thursday.

Dear Prayer Warriors,

Please pray for Allen and Kristine James in Montana. They need to move south 1 1/2 hrs from where they are now. The Lord is leading them to plant a church in Hamilton. The rent is expensive and they are having to go through property management companies. These companies are concerned Allen will not have a consistent enough income over the life of the lease agreement. Please pray for favor in the hearts and minds of the decision makers of these management companies. I spoke with Allen today and he said the “core group” for the church plant is growing so they feel an urgency to find a house so they can move to Hamilton and get started.

We are planning a “prayerwalking, purposeful talking” trip to Montana Sept 19-23.

Matthew 19:26Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”

27 Then Peter said to him, “We’ve given up everything to follow you. What will we get?”

28 Jesus replied, “I assure you that when the world is made new and the Son of Man sits upon his glorious throne, you who have been my followers will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life. 30 But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then.

Here is the latest mission trip update from Alan.  Is the Lord leading YOU to go?

Isaiah 6: 8Then I heard the Lord asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?”

I said, “Here I am. Send me.”

Hannah Galloway is a young lady who Desiree and I  have watched grow up. I remember when she was born and she went on her 1st mission trip to Thailand with us when she was 11!

She is between her junior and senior yr. @ Gardner Webb and is leaving for Mexico tomorrow for two months. She will be working with a ministry around Mexico City. She will be teaching English for the first 4 weeks, be involved with a church planting strategy conference ( they hope to plant 3 churches in the next 3 yrs.), work @ a Christian camp, help with a basketball clinic and then “whatever” for the last 4 weeks.  I am passing along your e-mail to her so she can forward prayer concerns to you to send out to the prayer team.

Hannah’s parents are Larry and Taffy Galloway (Charlie’s Tire). They are dear friends. Pray for them as they send their “little girl” to a distant land to serve our Savior.

Tomorrow, Tuesday the 26th of April, Cornerstone Presbyterian Church’s very own, Library Lady Beverly Monroe, will be departing for a “solo library make-over” adventure to Uganda, Africa.  Although she will not be accompanied with stateside “library ladies”, once she arrives she will be joined by a couple of ladies at her destination who become certified “library ladies”.

As part of Mission Support, let us humbly ask the Lord in prayer that if it is His will, may Beverly experience smooth flights and on-time connections, along with non-MIA luggage, plus good health and uplifting spirits throughout her journey.  You also might want to drop her a note or two during her Ugandan library make-over adventure –Bev’s email address is monroeb@mtnwaves.net .

Beverly will be in-country until the 11th of May, and returns home on the 12th…at least that is the schedule.    Bev has indicated there may be a hiccup in accomplishing the mission as planned since the number of books has increased from 1500 to 2500 (more books than planned, mmmm…sounds familiar does it not?), regardless, Bev is willing, wanting and able to do what must be done to have a successful “library make-over”.

May Beverly’s love for the Lord be a light to all she encounters during her travels…

May God bless you and keep you safe…
